“I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I always knew the women I wanted to be,”
- as Dianne von Furstenberg so eloquently said. I always had a passion for the theatre, getting that 5 minute curtain call, standing on the stage behind the big red velvet curtains, hearing the audience settle in their seats. Then the pit starts to play the intro music, lights dim, curtains go up, and you say your first line. That is a rush and a high I wish everyone could experience! While living in Toronto trying to pursue a career in the arts I really fell in love with fashion. I don’t know if it was all the wonderful boutiques and stores at my finger tips or that no one judges you for what you’re wearing in in the city. I felt I could take more risks with my style. Whatever it was I was hooked!

When I made the decision to move back to my home town I knew I wanted to do something with fashion. I fell in love with a downtown boutique and asked if I could do her window for free! She laughed and said we are actually hiring. It was then that I started working at Isis Dress for Special Occasion as a fashion consultant and I’ve been there for almost five years now! Over those years I have had the pleasure of helping women dress for special occasions in their lives and feel beautiful about themselves. I have been able to do some traveling as well, as part of my role is buying for the store. My favorite has been New York City for Bridal fashion week! That is an experience I am truly grateful for!
While working as a fashion consultant I really realized that some women were struggling with not knowing how to dress for their body shape or how to piece items together to create a flattering outfit. So I decided to create an outlet were women could learn about the in- season fashion trends, while also including “Wear It Best” advice, and easy home organizing tips. Styling with Dani was created and I was excited and scared all at the same time! The response to Styling with Dani has been mind blowing! I am truly speechless. I’ll never forget the day I received a phone call from the local radio station (104.9 Jr Fm) asking me If I would be interested in doing a fashion segment every week on fashion tips. I remember thinking to myself “am I dreaming? Is this for real? Is this a joke?!” The women said, “No Miss, this in not a joke- are you in?” Of course I said YES and then became excited and scared all at the same time AGAIN! Lol
I don’t care how old you are, what size you are, or what you do for a living, everyone should have a style! Ok so now that I’ve rambled on for a massive amount of time I probably should have told you to pour yourself a glass of wine at the beginning! Let’s get to the good stuff! FASHION!Thanksgiving is this weekend so I thought it would be fun to show you 3 cute and cozy looks you can wear for this family fun filled weekend!
Outfit #1 Formal Turkey dinner
Jean dress with a collar paired with a patterned or coloured scarf, add a belt so you can show of your silhouette pair it with a comfortable riding boot! Hair: Half up half down is always a nice look! For makeup play up your eyes by highlighting under your eye brows and dust in some brown eye shadow in your crease add mascara and lip gloss. *Tip add a coloured tight or legging underneath for a warm look!
Outfit #2 Outdoor Turkey Dinner
Dark tailored jeans paired with a long sleeve shirt, layered with a vest and ankle booties. Not a vest girl, opt for a cape or poncho! Hair: Loosely curl your hair, back comb at your roots to get some volume pull back into a low ponytail wrap a piece of hair around the elastic. Makeup: Mascara, blush and soft pink lip gloss! *Tip Add a skinny belt to your cape to sinch in your waist!
Outfit #3 Indoor Turkey Dinner
Leggings paired with that over sized sweater with a statement necklace, you could do a riding boot or ankle boot with this look. Hair & Make up: Tie your hair in a top knot bun with a red or berry statement lip! *Tip make sure your sweater is long enough as leggings are not pants! No one wants to see all of that if you know what I mean! Not a legging girl, go for a dark skinny jean instead. When wearing bulky on top you want fitted on bottom so its proportioned on your body same goes with flowy on bottom fitted on top!
