DIY Potato Stamped Towels/Fabric

These geometic / all over patterned fabrics are a trend right now for both Home Decor & Fashion - especially for infants/children.  With Valenines Day fast approaching I decided to use this technnique to make my own cute hand towels for our kitchen/bathrooms.
If it's fabric - or rather ... paintable this technique applies, below you will find a bunch more inspiration and ideas of the truly endless list of things you could use this for!

What you will need:

  • Fabric of choice
  • Paint
  • Potato
  • Knife

Get to Stampin'

Begin by creating your Potato Stamp - I have shared a more indepth tutorial on how to DIY your own Potato Stamp which you can view HERE , so I'm going to just going to do a quick review of the steps.

  1.  Cut Potato in half or thirds (depending on potato size - at least 3" in depth
  2.  Gently etch out your stamp design onto the flat (cut) face of the potato.
  3.  Very carefuly cut out your stamp shape. (you will want to make sure to cut down your stamp at least 1/2")
  4.  Set out / whipe down to dry.

Using your paint colour of choice - gently dip your Potato Stamp - learn from my mistake and check your stamp & whipe off any access paint before placing it down onto the fabric - I was sure not to make this mistake again on my next one(s) don't fret if a stamp is miss placed slightly, part of the beauty of this look is its hand made details!
Have fun experimenting with different colours and stamp designs & get creative!
